Nike’s Duck-Inspired ‘TurDUNKen’ Sneakers Even Come With A Fierce ‘Oven’

Nike’s hearty Thanksgiving collaboration with streetwear boutique Concepts is bound to leave you satisfied. The new footwear takes sizzling inspiration from the Frankenstein’s monster of holiday feasts, the Turducken, and it’s safe to say that sneakerheads will be giving thanks for it.
The Concepts x Nike SB Dunk High ‘TurDUNKen’ (see what it did there?) features a feathery texture and colors inspired by the Mallard duck, including the shades of its shiny, almost oil slick-like head. Laces of ‘Cranberry’, ‘Butter’, and ‘Gravy’ colorways tie this delectable visual feast together.
Concepts teased the drop with a visual of the ‘TurDUNKen’ being roasted and charred in the oven. It turns out that this was also a hint for the sneaker’s scrumptious packaging, as the boutique later shared pictures of the intricate oven-themed box.
The packaging seems to mimic the process of opening an oven. Upon lifting the outer layer, the wearer is greeted by a fiery oven grill aesthetic. The black sides resemble smoke, creating the illusion of the roast dinner being cooked.
According toSneaker Freaker, the sneakers even arrive with Nike Dri-FIT chicken foot socks and nuances of holiday leftovers, such as a turkey leg Nerf vortex football.
For the uninitiated, Turducken involves the stuffing of deboned chicken inside a deboned duck, which is then inserted into a deboned turkey, hence all the poultry references.
“We’ve definitely never taken ourselves too seriously,” Deon Point, Creative Director of Concepts, shared with the publication. “The thing with us that always gets overlooked is our sense of humour. We love to have fun.”
The footwear will debut on 14 November at Concepts’ flagship stores for US$249, before dropping on Nike SNKRS on 21 November. The sneakers will be priced at US$120 for Nike’s release, as they will only arrive with a regular shoebox.
