• Use your industry: When making movies, you will likely end up working with other companies to create the film so you will want it to be clear in the credits that you’re the one in charge! Add words such as films, productions, or studios in the name.

Now it’s time to get down to business. Start out by making a list of potential production company names, and write names until you cannot possibly think of anymore.

Have a nice long list? Great! Now it’s time to really start getting into the action by trimming it down to the names that really have potential. To do this, go back down through your list while keeping the following questions in mind:

• How about social networking sites; is the name available on various websites such as facebook and twitter?

• Does the name infringe on any copyrights? Check with U.S. Copyright Office.

• Is it catchy?

• Is it easy for anyone to spell and pronounce?

• Do you have any logo ideas?
