PANTONE has been unveiling a defining annual color since 2000. More than a prediction, the much-anticipated PANTONE Color of the Year illustrates the color standard’s hopes for the forthcoming year and beyond.
2020 marks two decades of optimistic hues, and the color authority is commemorating this spectrum by teaming up with boardsports heritage company Globe to drop Color of the Year-inspired Resin-7 Canadian maple skateboards. The vibrant collection features two box sets, each numbered with a limited count of 200.
The first, labeled ‘2011 – 2020’, comprises five bold decks splashed with 2012’s ‘Tangerine Tango’ (PANTONE 17-1463), 2017’s ‘Greenery’ (PANTONE 15-0343’, 2018’s ‘Ultra Violet’ (PANTONE 18-3838), 2019’s ‘Living Coral’ (PANTONE 16-1546), and this year’s ‘Classic Blue’ (PANTONE 19-4052).
The other set, ‘2000 – 2010’, looks back at the decade before with skateboards emblazoned in the warm swatches of 2000’s ‘Cerulean Blue’ (PANTONE 15-4020), 2002’s ‘True Red’ (PANTONE 19-1664), 2006’s ‘Sand Dollar’ (PANTONE 13-1106), 2009’s ‘Mimosa’ (PANTONE 14-0848), and 2010’s ‘Turquoise’ (PANTONE 15-5519).
The first box, priced at US$424.95, is now available on GLOBEBRAND.com, while the more muted ‘2000 – 2010’ set will debut on 6 November.
