Do you own a trove of Donald Trump-themed memorabilia, and don’t know what to do with them now that he’s projected to be a single-term president? The advice is not to sell them—POTUS recently declared his autographs were worth US$10,000 on eBay, but sales for those didn’t pick up. So how about exchanging them for free food?
Pollo, a chicken restaurant in Louisville, Kentucky, is inviting Trump supporters to submit their now “useless Trump merchandise” to qualify for a free entrée, side, and beverage.
The owners of the joint, Troy King and Selena Johnson, actually identify as supporters of Joe Biden. However, they told USA Today that they wanted to do something for MAGA sympathizers without hurting anyone’s feelings.
“It’s not going to make a difference to have Biden as president if we don’t work together,” King explained. He said this promotion was meant to be a “sincere olive branch” for Trump fans, although he predicted it could “ruffle some feathers.”
The duo said that the initiative has received a mixed bag of responses. Some commended the chicken restaurant’s social media ad, while others claimed they would boycott the eatery.
King updated that they even got a threat to remove the post or “something bad would happen,” but this has only encouraged him to launch the same promotion for his second restaurant, Six Forks Burger Co.
